Lame Duck Senator Thom Tillis Targets Trump Administration Leaders in Public Critiques
Senator Thom Tillis, R-N.C., has recently been featured in multiple media interviews where he criticized President Donald Trump and his administration.
In recent weeks, Tillis has publicly called for the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Christi Noem, describing her as “incompetent and an amateur” following the fatal shooting of a protester in Minneapolis and without the completion of an ongoing formal investigation. He also stated that Noem’s leadership had “destroyed Republican credibility on border security.”
In 2023, the North Carolina GOP censured Tillis for challenging President Trump’s immigration policies, including initial opposition to the Border Wall.
Additionally, Tillis has criticized White House Deputy Chief Stephen Miller, stating: “Stephen Miller never fails to live up to my expectations of incompetence.” He further remarked that if he were president, neither Miller nor Noem would be in Washington.
Currently a lame duck senator with plans for post-senate commentary roles, Tillis has vowed to block Kevin Warsh, President Trump’s nominee for Federal Reserve Chairman.
In his public statements, Tillis has not addressed the sanctuary policies of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz or the sources funding outside agitators in that state.
