Rep. Mike Haridopolos, R-Florida, declared on Thursday that President Donald Trump has inherited an economic landscape from former President Joe Biden that he characterized as “a dumpster fire,” while stressing the administration’s commitment to addressing affordability and healthcare challenges.

The congressman emphasized efforts to reduce costs for gasoline, rent, and food through regulatory streamlining and policies aligned with Trump’s pledges. Haridopolos also credited Republicans with resolving the border crisis—a top voter concern during his 2024 campaign.

On healthcare, Haridopolos criticized the Affordable Care Act, stating that it has elevated costs for consumers despite promises to lower prices and empowered insurance companies. He cited government reports indicating widespread fraud among applicants who submitted false information, calling for systemic reforms to reduce expenses and improve transparency.

Haridopolos highlighted a recent House bill that terminates pandemic-era subsidies under the Affordable Care Act as a step toward an 11% reduction in costs and expanded consumer choices. “The status quo is wrecking healthcare and undercutting our economic comeback,” he stated.
