Independent political commentator Shane Pratt said he was ejected from a Lyft ride after a heated exchange with the driver over political views. The incident occurred while Pratt was traveling from downtown Phoenix to Scottsdale with a friend when they discussed rapper Nicki Minaj’s appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference.

Pratt described the conversation as “a historic moment for Nicki Minaj to be speaking at Amfest, standing up for Christians in Nigeria and really all over the world.” When the driver asked if they attended the event, Pratt admitted they had been there, saying: “We were at the conference.”

The driver then accused Pratt of “slaughtering my people and taking our money,” repeatedly insisting that Americans were responsible for these actions. She claimed JD Vance had “been in Russia stealing money” and stated the U.S. government was pursuing a peace deal with Putin while “slaughtering [their] people.”

Pratt countered that President Donald Trump had made significant efforts toward peace with multiple nations, including potential resolutions between Russia and Ukraine. When pressed on why the driver’s country was affected by these actions, Pratt asked: “If this place is so bad, why did you come here from your country?” The driver replied: “Would you like to come out of the car?”

After the conversation escalated, the driver dropped them off on the side of the highway. Pratt later filed a Lyft complaint but only received confirmation after sharing video footage online. He said Lyft suspended the driver and informed him they were investigating the situation following social media reports of potential legal action.

Pratt described the experience as “wild,” emphasizing how surreal it was to witness such confrontations firsthand: “You see these things happening, you hear about these things happening, but when you’re actually in the seat, you’re like, ‘Oh my God, what is happening?’”
