Sen. Lindsey Graham Claims Trump’s Healthcare Plan Ends Government Shutdown

The South Carolina Republican stated during an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” “Donald Trump gave us a breakthrough yesterday… [by declaring] I will not accept continuing to give hundreds of billions of dollars to money-sucking healthcare insurance companies under Obamacare. I am going to give the money to the people, so they can buy better and cheaper health care.”

Graham criticized the Affordable Care Act, calling it “a scam” that rewards insurance companies at the public’s expense. He claimed, “Obamacare’s been exposed for a scam… I think the government’s going to open today because cooler heads are prevailing on the Democratic side.” The senator emphasized that “the government will reopen today” and insisted, “We’re not going to talk about healthcare until it does.”

He accused Democrats of employing “political terrorism,” citing disruptions such as shuttered airports, unpaid workers, and the suspension of SNAP benefits. Graham alleged that Democrats seek to reverse $1.5 trillion in savings from the Big Beautiful Bill, which aimed to make Medicaid more efficient, and to lift restrictions preventing undocumented immigrants from accessing healthcare.
