Mullin Claims Democrats Deliberately Block Americans from Tax Cut Benefits

Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin claimed on Monday that Democrats have deliberately blocked Americans from benefiting from President Donald Trump’s tax cuts.
Mullin stated that union members—widely regarded as the Democratic Party’s core base—are growing increasingly dissatisfied with their party’s actions. During recent meetings in Oregon with labor groups, he noted workers expressed frustration over what they described as a pattern of Democratic leadership abandoning them: “They were more upset at their leadership continually supporting the Democrat Party when the Democrat Party has left them,” he said.
The senator emphasized that no Democrats supported Trump’s tax bill. “Not one single Democrat voted for these tax cuts,” Mullin stated. He detailed how Democrats have not backed provisions intended to exempt low-income workers from taxation, including senior citizens receiving Social Security benefits without federal income tax, service industry employees on tips, and line workers, factory laborers, bridge builders, plumbers, electricians, and ironworkers from overtime taxes.
Mullin noted that Democrats have “absolutely taxed” these groups instead of providing relief. He also reported a trend of businesses and individuals relocating from blue states such as California and Massachusetts to Oklahoma and Texas. Mullin asserted that the 2025 tax provisions—the “One Big Beautiful Bill”—will deliver significant financial gains: “They’re going to be able to bring home more money, and they’re going to get a larger tax return,” he said.
Mullin added that Republicans prioritize local economic investment over federal spending: “We believe Republicans believe it’s better for you to keep it in your hometown and your pocket than to send it to politicians in Washington, D.C.” He concluded by stating that Democrats are “fighting us every step of the way.”
