Gov. Tim Walz 'deeply concerned' people are shouting 'r-word' while driving by his Minnesota home

Speaking at a budget press conference Thursday, the Democrat noted that some passing motorists have been using offensive terms directed at him, a situation he attributes to President Donald Trump’s recent harsh rhetoric on immigration and welfare abuse in Minnesota.

Walz stated that residents are echoing Trump’s comments by accusing him of allowing “Somali immigrants” to supposedly alter the state’s character. He stressed that this language is derogatory and dangerous, with callers labeling him with a term that he finds deeply offensive.

Trump has recently intensified his criticism, alleging widespread fraud in Minnesota involving nonprofits tied to Somali communities. On Truth Social posts, Trump claimed “Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for ‘prey'” and accused Walz of being “seriously retarded,” suggesting unresponsiveness to these issues.

Walz emphasized that he has yet to receive any Republican official’s public condemnation or support in addressing this issue properly.

The investigation into the alleged fraud, related to a $250 million scheme involving misuse of funds meant for schoolchildren’s nutrition programs, continues.
