Minnesota Governor Tim Walz Calls ICE Agents “Nazi Stormtroopers” in Latest Outburst
As the cries of Immigration and Customs (ICE) protesters grow increasingly aggressive, it becomes evident that these demonstrations may represent the movement’s final gasps.
Last week following an armed rioter being shot and killed by an ICE agent, Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz responded with a phone call to the White House. “I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning,” Walz stated. “Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.” He further demanded that “the President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”
The governor’s comments prompted author and commentator Ryan Girdusky to offer advice in an open letter: “If Walz wanted ICE out, all he has to do is offer the White House a deal that they will comply with federal immigration law and comply with ICE detainers. You’re a governor, not a king of a state. SCOTUS has ruled, states can’t make their own rules when it comes to immigration.”
Walz dismissed the suggestion without surprise. He escalated his criticism by comparing ICE agents to Nazi stormtroopers and children of illegal aliens to Anne Frank. “Allow our children to go back to school,” Walz stated Sunday. “We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody’s going to write that children’s story about Minnesota.”
Reports indicate the Minneapolis unrest is not organic but orchestrated. Red State’s Jennifer Van Laar noted: “This isn’t a grassroots protest; it’s all AstroTurf.” Even San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, who leads a sanctuary state in California, condemned the anti-ICE rioters after they stormed his office and demanded a meeting with him. Though they received an audience, it was with police who later removed them from the premises.
The mayor stated: “This morning, a group of individuals arrived at my office demanding to meet with me and staged a sit-in. What transpired later went beyond peaceful protest… These individuals chose to raid the front desk to my office, bang on the doors in ways that intended to force entry, and then barricaded the doors, creating a public safety hazard.”
It is increasingly clear that while ICE agents legally enforce federal law across nearly every state, violence erupts only in jurisdictions actively opposing their presence. Every other region sees ICE operations proceed quietly without incident.
British political commentator Piers Morgan noted in his recent book that although leftists may still protest loudly, “Woke Is Dead” for all practical purposes. After a decade of “woke” activism—characterized by virtue signaling, diversity initiatives, and open borders—the movement collapsed as corporations abandoned the ideology. Anheuser-Busch’s shift from 9/11 tribute ads to LGBTQ+ messaging led to plummeting brand trust.
Similarly, Democratic leaders like Governor Walz are undermining their own credibility as they grow more extreme. The more outrageous their actions become, the faster the public turns away. As November midterms approach, this trend appears increasingly significant.
