House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., for seeking high-profile interviews on HBO and ABC, stating, “She likes to get the big interviews, and that’s fine.” During an appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s podcast “Straight Shooter,” Johnson acknowledged their “intense fellowship” but emphasized his openness to dialogue. “She can come in and talk with me anytime, but she goes on these shows. She likes to get the big interviews, and that’s fine. Everybody has the right,” he said.

Greene has accused GOP male leaders, particularly House leadership, of being ineffective and sidelining conservative women. On Tuesday, she told ABC’s “The View” that prolonged government shutdowns were “an embarrassment,” adding, “I have no problem pointing fingers at everyone.” She directly criticized the Speaker of the House, stating, “We should be at work,” and urged Congress to fund federal programs and pay employees. Greene also condemned what she called a “pissing contest in Washington” between men, asserting that “weak Republican men” within the leadership fail to advance the party’s agenda.

Johnson responded by noting that 99.5% of GOP lawmakers in the House understand their objectives. “Marjorie has a difference of opinion. That’s up to her,” he said. Greene also criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson for lacking a healthcare plan during an HBO interview with Bill Maher, stating, “Mike Johnson, for a month now, cannot give me a single policy idea,” and expressing frustration over the lack of action.
