Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) announced Thursday that she and other House Oversight Committee members have referred Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison to the Department of Justice for investigation, accusing the state’s top officials of obstructing federal scrutiny of alleged fraud tied to social services programs.

Luna described a pattern of “resistance” to fraud inquiries in Minnesota during her remarks on Newsmax. She stated that federal law was being intentionally violated by Walz and Ellison, saying they “obstructed federal law and intentionally turned down what they knew as fraud.” Luna confirmed she spoke with DOJ officials on Thursday who “confirmed receipt of both of those letters.”

The committee has also pursued testimony from Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. citizen and businessman Luna accused of supporting “left-leaning pro-communist organizations” that benefit only the Chinese Communist Party. She argued Singham should be registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act and described his activities as a “FARA violation,” claiming investigators traced a “money trail” linking him to anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement activism.

Luna highlighted ongoing federal and state attention on alleged fraud in Minnesota, including claims about housing assistance, food aid, and unemployment programs where taxpayer dollars may have been improperly obtained. When asked about Attorney General Ellison’s public stance, Luna rejected his characterization of the issues as “political” rather than serious, asserting both Walz and Ellison broke federal law.

She noted that investigators have traced connections between Singham and protests tied to Minnesota as fraud investigations involving the Somali community proceed. Luna also mentioned she contacted Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding related inquiries but had not yet received a response.

Ellison stated during a clip played in the interview: “Of course we’ve done enough, and we’re doing more every single day.” He added: “This is a political matter. This is not a serious thing.”

Luna maintained her position that both Walz and Ellison will be held accountable by the Department of Justice, saying she is “very positive and comfortable” in her assessment of their legal violations.
