Representative Delia Ramirez of Illinois has demanded the House Judiciary Committee initiate a comprehensive investigation into Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for her alleged “unlawful and potentially impeachable actions.”

During a recent House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Ramirez accused Noem of misusing federal resources appropriated by Congress and engaging in unethical behavior. She further stated that Noem repeatedly made false and misleading statements to both Congress and the press while undermining the separation of powers and disregarding the roles of Congress and the courts. “Bottom line: you LIE, you act with impunity, you reject checks and balances, and you ignore Congress and the Courts,” Ramirez declared.

Ramirez emphasized that Noem’s options are limited—resignation, removal by President Trump, or impeachment—and claimed she had taken initial steps toward her removal while urging the Judiciary Committee to open an investigation into Noem’s conduct. In a letter addressed to House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan and Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, Ramirez specifically pressed lawmakers to “conduct a complete investigation” into Secretary Noem’s actions.

A spokesman for Chairman Jordan characterized Ramirez’s correspondence as “the most ridiculous and toothless correspondence ever written.”

The article notes that since President Trump returned to office, his administration has aggressively expanded immigration enforcement and deportation efforts. Under Secretary Noem, the Department of Homeland Security oversees federal agencies responsible for implementing these policies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The department has accelerated deportation processes through expedited removal initiatives, new tracking technologies, and outreach programs designed to encourage voluntary departures.

Noem has defended the hardline immigration approach, arguing that illegal aliens pose a security threat and strict enforcement is necessary. However, she faces criticism and lawsuits over tactics such as raids targeting veterans and U.S. citizens, as well as blocking access to legal representation for immigrants during removal proceedings.
