According to findings released Tuesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco, Victoria Jones, 34, daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, died from “toxic effects of cocaine” and her death was ruled an accident.
The medical examiner’s report stated that authorities announced these findings on February 17, more than six weeks after Victoria Jones was discovered unresponsive at a San Francisco hotel on January 1.
Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel at approximately 2:52 a.m. on January 1 following an emergency report. The San Francisco Police Department and Fire Department confirmed that both agencies responded, locating a deceased individual whose identity was not immediately disclosed.
Dispatch audio recorded the incident as a “code 3 for overdose” with a “color change,” which refers to cyanosis—a condition indicating low oxygen levels in the blood that can cause blue or purple discoloration of the skin, lips, and nails.
A police source later confirmed that the woman found at the hotel was Victoria Jones. In the days following her death, both the Fairmont Hotel and her family issued statements. The hotel representative expressed deep sorrow: “We are deeply saddened by an incident that occurred at the hotel on Jan. 1, 2026. Our heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time.” They also noted that the hotel team is actively cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
The Jones family expressed gratitude for the kind words and prayers they received: “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
Victoria Jones was born to Tommy Lee Jones and his ex-wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. They share a son, Austin, who is 43.
Victoria Jones had an active acting career, making her film debut alongside her father in the 2002 film “Men in Black II.” She was credited as “Immigrant Girl” in the film “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” and appeared in “Sorry, Haters” and “The Homesman,” a 2014 film directed by Tommy Lee Jones. She also had a role in a 2005 episode of the television series “One Tree Hill.”
Court records indicate that Victoria Jones was arrested at least twice within the past year, including one instance for drug possession.
