The DNA found on a glove recovered near Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson did not match any profiles in the FBI-managed Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), a national database containing more than 19 million offender records, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that additional DNA evidence was discovered at the residence and is currently being analyzed. The department also reported that the DNA submitted to CODIS came from gloves found approximately two miles away and did not trigger a match in the system or align with DNA samples collected on-site. They further noted that DNA found at the property is undergoing analysis, with additional testing required as part of the ongoing investigation.
Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1. Preliminary testing of a glove reportedly matched an unidentified male’s DNA. This profile also appeared to correspond with gloves worn by a masked individual captured in doorbell camera footage at the Guthrie residence.
The FBI previously noted that the glove tested was one of approximately 16 found near Nancy Guthrie’s home, with most belonging to searchers who discarded them while working in the area. Investigators are working with the manufacturer to locate Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker and identify the masked subject by tracing where the backpack seen in the video was purchased.
The sheriff’s office reported that they have reviewed evidence gathered through two search warrants executed last week. All individuals detained during questioning have been released without arrest, per Sheriff Nanos. Additionally, authorities are canvassing gun shops to determine if the suspect appears familiar based on doorbell video footage provided by the FBI.
