DHS Official Claims Minnesota Governor Tim Walz Complicit in Nationwide Child-Care Fraud Scheme
A federal official has raised alarms over potential culpability involving Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in a widespread child-care fraud investigation, according to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin during an interview.
McLaughlin stated that while the full scope of the inquiry and direct links to Walz remain undisclosed, she emphasized that “Tim Walz may be culpable or at least complicit in this.” She added: “How would he not? It was right under his nose.”
The DHS official noted that Walz has publicly defended his oversight over fraud allegations despite claims he should have initiated federal law enforcement actions, including involving the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, or other agencies. McLaughlin criticized Walz’s inaction, stating: “If that was actually the case, and he wasn’t worried about this voting bloc or about politics, then he would have called in the FBI. He would have asked Homeland Security Investigations for help if he actually cared about the citizens that he purports to serve.”
She highlighted the scale of the alleged fraud, referencing Nick Shirley, a 22-year-old who reportedly provided significant service to Americans during the incident. McLaughlin asserted that the Trump administration is committed to delivering accountability.
