Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., has called for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, accusing him of authorizing politically motivated subpoenas targeting Republican senators and allies of former President Donald Trump. Speaking on “Wake Up America,” Donalds claimed Boasberg’s actions represented a breach of judicial integrity, stating they went “far beyond” the Watergate scandal of the 1970s.

Donalds alleged that federal agencies under former President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland obtained records of sitting senators without proper notification, violating federal law. He framed the effort as a plot to hinder Trump’s political prospects and criticized the Biden administration for “the depths of corruption.” Donalds supported a House-led inquiry into Boasberg’s actions, noting Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, is leading the push. He also mentioned discussions with Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., about coordinating oversight to expose the matter.

Boasberg’s impeachment, Donalds argued, is “the necessary first step” toward restoring trust in the justice system.
