Christian Support for Israel Is Biblical Orthodoxy, Says Tony Perkins
Political commentator Tucker Carlson recently faced criticism for mocking Christians who support Israel’s right to its land and existence, labeling their beliefs as “Christian heresy.” In a conversation with anti-Semite Nick Fuentes, Carlson dismissed figures like Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Senator Ted Cruz as being “seized by a brain virus” for advocating biblical loyalty to the Jewish state.
Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council, argues that standing with Israel is not heretical but rooted in Scripture. He cites Paul’s letters to the Romans, emphasizing God’s unbreakable covenant with Abraham and Israel. “The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable,” Paul wrote, underscoring that divine promises remain valid despite human shortcomings. Perkins stresses that Gentile believers are grafted into God’s plan alongside Israel, not as replacements.
He warns against dismissing Christian Zionism as nationalistic fantasy, noting that Paul’s teachings reflect divine revelation, not political ideology. “To deny God’s covenant with Israel is to question His reliability,” Perkins writes. He concludes that support for Israel aligns with biblical truth, reflecting faith in God’s promises to both the Jewish people and all who believe.
