White House deputy chief of staff James Blair revealed that President Donald Trump will prioritize affordability and reducing the cost of living in the coming year, following a string of Republican losses in recent elections. Blair emphasized that Trump is attuned to economic challenges, noting that “the fundamentals are there” for an turnaround.
Blair highlighted the success of democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, who defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa by focusing on affordability. “He was talking about the cost of living,” Blair said, dismissing criticisms of Mamdani as distractions.
He also criticized New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli for not addressing power costs, despite winning the tax vote. “He talked generically about change to Jersey,” Blair remarked, adding that Ciattarelli’s approach “was not in line with what voters were saying.”
Blair further questioned Virginia GOP candidate Winsome Earle-Sears, noting that over half of her ads focused on transgender issues, which he claimed were not among voters’ top concerns.
