Liberals Have Become Cult-Like, Intolerant and Unaccepting of Alternative Views

According to Oxford and Webster dictionaries, a liberal is defined as “willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one’s own; open to new ideas; broad-minded, tolerant.” This definition contrasts sharply with the current state of liberalism, which has devolved into a rigid ideology devoid of genuine dialogue.

Raised in a 1960s–1970s liberal household, I was taught to embrace change and respect diverse perspectives. My parents, active in the Democratic Party, fostered open debate among family and friends. At the time, “progressive” signified forward-thinking openness to new ideas. The world’s evolution—often through protests and upheaval—was viewed as a positive force.

Today, liberalism has transformed into an unyielding dogma. Its adherents prioritize ideology over logic, rejecting alternative viewpoints with hostility. Those who dissent are branded as extremists—fascists, Nazis, misogynists, racists, or transphobes—without engaging in meaningful discussion. This tactic of labeling and cancellation replaces debate, silencing opposing voices.

As a journalist writing for a conservative outlet, I face relentless hate and obscenities online. Many critics have never read my work yet condemn me based on preconceived notions. If conformity to a narrow elite group is the new “Scarlet Letter,” I will embrace it as a badge of honor.
