National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chair Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., has issued a stark warning to Republican donors about the growing influence of far-left ideology within the Democratic Party, citing New York City Democrat Zohran Mamdani’s recent electoral success as evidence of a radical transformation.
In a statement, Scott declared, “From New England to the South to the heartland, the picture is clear: Mamdani’s ideology is no longer fringe—it is the foundation of the Democrat Party.” He described Mamdani’s rise as proof that “the far-left now controls the Democrat Party,” comparing his movement to a fire ignited by the “Squad,” the progressive House faction led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
Scott’s concerns were detailed in a letter to donors, where he accused Mamdani of embodying a “socialist” agenda that is now central to Democratic strategy. He argued that Mamdani’s policies and rhetoric are being replicated across the party, with his approach shaping Senate races nationwide. The NRSC highlighted seven Democratic candidates aligned with Mamdani’s platform: Iowa’s Zach Wahls, Maine’s Graham Platner, Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed, Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, North Carolina’s Roy Cooper, and Texas’ James Talarico.
Each candidate faced specific criticisms from Scott, including allegations of supporting police defunding, endorsing socialist policies, or advocating for wealth redistribution. The NRSC emphasized that these figures represent a broader shift in the party, with their strategies mirroring Mamdani’s “blueprint” for 2026 contests.
Scott concluded that the “takeover is complete,” asserting that the far-left’s dominance now defines Democratic priorities.
