Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., urged Republicans to consolidate their efforts and resist Democratic pressure to end the government shutdown during an appearance on “Wake Up America.” Marshall argued that many Democrats are “realizing it is easier to force a shutdown than to get out of a shutdown,” emphasizing the need for GOP unity.
He criticized the party’s approach, stating, “We need to stop negotiating against ourselves” and advised followers to “stick together here” under the guidance of former President Donald Trump. Marshall reiterated the Republican objective of maintaining an open government while pursuing a balanced budget and addressing national debt, calling it the country’s primary challenge.
The senator also targeted Democratic policies, asserting that Democrats are “locked in” to contentious provisions like Biden-era healthcare subsidies. He claimed these measures highlight the failure of Obamacare, arguing that overregulation has led to industry consolidation. Marshall suggested Republicans should “keep together” while allowing Democrats to “continue screaming.”
Marshall’s remarks underscored a strategic focus on fiscal responsibility and opposition to what he described as Democratic mismanagement.
