Trump Slams Late-Night Host for ‘Worst’ Performance

President Donald Trump criticized comedian Seth Meyers on social media, calling him “the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television” and labeling him “the WORST to perform, live or otherwise.” The remarks followed a “Late Night” segment where Meyers joked about Trump’s recent comments on naval aircraft carrier catapults. Trump accused Meyers of wasting time with “endless” discussions on the topic, adding, “Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”

Trump had previously expressed skepticism about the Navy’s electromagnetic catapults, claiming they could fail if exposed to water. He later pledged to sign an executive order mandating steam-powered catapults for future carriers. Meyers mocked Trump’s remarks during his “A Closer Look” segment, quipping, “Guy spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote.”

The attack on Meyers aligns with Trump’s broader criticism of late-night television. Earlier this year, he praised CBS’ cancellation of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and celebrated ABC’s six-day suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after Kimmel faced backlash for comments about conservative leader Charlie Kirk’s murder. Trump labeled Kimmel a “zero talent” figure with “worse ratings than even Colbert.”

Kimmel later clarified that his remarks were not intended to mock the killing, stating, “I don’t think there’s anything funny about it,” and criticized ABC affiliates for removing his show from air.
