Trump’s Iran Strike Strategy: ‘Your Only Chance’ as Congress Prepares for Briefings
Congressman Randy Fine, R-Fla., stated he trusts President Donald Trump “implicitly” and top national security officials as lawmakers await additional details about U.S. and Israel’s strikes on Iran Saturday. In a statement aired on Newsmax TV’s “Saturday Agenda,” Fine emphasized his confidence in the president’s decision-making after Trump announced “major combat operations” with the warning: “when we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations.”
Fine praised Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as delivering “extraordinary” work that he has “no reason to doubt.” He anticipates detailed congressional briefings beginning Sunday afternoon, which he believes will confirm longstanding U.S. concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“I think they’re going to tell us what we already know,” Fine stated, referring to Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of striking the United States. He cited Iran’s history of hostile rhetoric toward the U.S., including decades of declarations such as “Death to America,” as evidence of an imminent threat.
Fine described Trump’s foreign policy approach as measured and surgical, stating that “Donald Trump has proven over the last year that he does things surgically targeted.” He also suggested that Iranian citizens, despite years under clerical rule, possess a foundational desire for freedom and closer ties with Western nations.
“Imagine a country chanting ‘friend to America’ instead of ‘death to America,'” Fine added.
The congressman countered criticism from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., who has questioned the administration’s actions. Fine remarked that President Barack Obama “dropped 26,000 bombs in 2016 alone” without congressional authorization, implying Jeffries lacks the insight to critique Trump’s recent moves.
Congress is expected to review additional information on the strikes in the coming days.
