Rep. Andrew Clyde, a Republican from Georgia, stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is expected to outline his vision for national progress during the upcoming State of the Union address.

In an interview with reporters, Clyde emphasized what he described as a dramatic improvement in the nation’s condition under Trump’s leadership, citing reduced inflation and enhanced border security.

“Tonight is all about the president and the state of our union,” Clyde said. “It is stronger, it is safer, it is more prosperous. And we as a nation are more respected — actually, we’re feared on the world stage because of President Trump.”

Clyde contrasted Trump’s economic record with that of the previous administration, noting that inflation peaked at 9% during the Biden administration and has since fallen to approximately 2.4%. He also highlighted the current status of border security as a secure southern border.

The Georgia representative expressed hope that Trump would address the SAVE America Act, legislation passed by House Republicans requiring proof of citizenship and photo ID for federal voting. Clyde argued that over 80% of Americans support such measures to protect election integrity.

Additionally, Clyde warned about the consequences of ongoing delays in Department of Homeland Security funding, stating that the current impasse is harming critical agencies including the Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and FEMA.

He also defended increased funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement as essential for effective border enforcement throughout Trump’s term.

With tariffs, Iran tensions, and fiscal battles also looming, Clyde stated that Trump’s address will reassure Americans that his administration remains focused on security, prosperity, and restoring American strength — themes he believes will define the president’s path forward.
