Former Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie stated Saturday that a potential U.S. military strike on Iran must be “overwhelming and devastating” to avoid further escalation, warning that even after significant destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, a limited operation would not deter Tehran.

Wilkie explained that such an attack would still permit Iranian retaliation against U.S. bases and Israel. He emphasized the necessity of decisive military action, noting the United States’ ability to deploy strategic assets including B-52s, B-1s, and B-2 bombers.

Additionally, Wilkie linked Iran’s support for Russia to the conflict in Ukraine, stating that “the Russians are being supplied daily with ballistic missiles and drones by the theocratic fanatics.”

Former President Donald Trump, when asked about prospects for an agreement, stated: “We’re either going to get a deal or it’s going to be unfortunate for them,” adding that “Ten, 15 days, pretty much maximum.”

In a separate comment, Wilkie dismissed discussions about extraterrestrial life as unfounded, criticizing former President Barack Obama’s remarks on the topic by saying: “He handed them hundreds of billions of dollars, no questions asked, and they played him like a fiddle.”
