The United States faces an escalating threat from Islamic terrorist networks, a crisis directly linked to “a suicidal immigration policy” under prior administrations, said Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, in remarks to Newsmax on Friday.

Gill highlighted the FBI’s recent arrests in Michigan of individuals allegedly plotting violent attacks during Halloween weekend, citing links to Islamic State extremism and potential online radicalization. He criticized previous leadership for failing to secure borders, stating, “This is exactly what we elected President Trump to do—secure our border and deport aliens who shouldn’t be here.”

The congressman praised the Trump administration’s focus on national security and border enforcement, arguing that open-border policies have imported Islamic terrorism into the U.S. “America does not have a long history of Islamic terrorism,” he noted. “That is something relatively new in our nation’s history—imported via a suicidal immigration policy.”

Gill emphasized support for stricter immigration measures, including enhanced vetting and deportations, to address vulnerabilities exploited by extremist networks. He urged lawmakers to prioritize national security over lenient policies, stating, “We need to start taking the threat of Islamic terrorism very seriously.”

The comments align with Republican concerns over federal enforcement gaps, as intelligence agencies warn of radicalization risks across multiple states. Gill reiterated that Trump’s approach is essential to protecting Americans from foreign threats.
