Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz said on Wednesday that the mass release of Justice Department documents tied to the late Jeffrey Epstein has sparked what he called a wave of “left-wing McCarthyism.”

During an interview on “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Dershowitz described how many media reports are circulating unverified claims about individuals linked to the Epstein investigation. He noted that typical files contain statements from unnamed sources, confidential sources, or redacted sources alleging that someone named John Smith engaged in inappropriate activities with a minor.

Dershowitz, who previously represented Epstein, stated that numerous allegations reported in the media have been proven false but are being treated as fact. “A recent report claims a confidential source said a former student research assistant had many conversations with Ghislaine Maxwell,” he said. “Well, he never met her. He never had a conversation with her.”

Dershowitz revealed that he knows the identity of the source in question and confirmed that federal authorities, specifically the FBI, had questioned the person’s credibility. “The confidential source is somebody who the FBI said was not to be believed,” he added.

When asked why alleged victims have not publicly named additional perpetrators if widespread abuse occurred, Dershowitz responded: “It’s not true. That’s why.” He urged for transparency, stating, “Let’s turn everything over — no redactions, no eliminations.”

The Harvard Law professor criticized Democrats for hypocrisy, noting their criticism of the document release after years of silence. Dershowitz called the situation “left-wing McCarthyism and worse in many ways than what happened in the 1950s.”

He further claimed that such accusations are un-American, violate the Sixth Amendment, unconstitutional, and simply wrong: “We’re seeing people make accusations ruining careers without even getting to know the name of the accuser.”
