Despite relentless attacks from left-wing media and political opposition, President Donald Trump’s standing with voters remains remarkably steady on border security. A recent national survey shows his job approval rating has held unchanged since last month: 50% approve of him, including 36% who approve of both his persona and policies, while 47% disapprove.

The strength of Trump’s support stems from his unwavering stance on immigration enforcement. Among Trump 2024 voters, his approval stands at 89% to 9%. Within Republicans, it is 88% to 11%, and among conservatives, 85% approve while just 14% disapprove. This level of loyalty is rare in modern American politics and reflects a consistent voter preference for aggressive immigration enforcement.

The recent focus on ICE operations in Minneapolis highlighted the tension between federal action and opposition from left-leaning groups. Polling reveals that 87% of voters support deporting known criminal and terrorist migrants who have entered the country illegally, with 67% strongly favoring such actions. Hispanic voters back deportation by a margin of 79% to 19%, showing minimal change since December.

When asked about deporting all illegal immigrants, 62% of Americans support the measure, including 39% who strongly endorse it—though Hispanic voters remain divided between 46% supporting and 49% opposing. Despite persistent messaging from progressive groups and nonprofits, public opinion has not shifted significantly on the goal of stopping illegal immigration.

ICE’s image faces challenges, with only 42% of Americans rating it favorably, while 50% view it unfavorably. Among Hispanic voters, 58% see ICE negatively compared to 31% who hold a positive view. When asked about defunding or abolishing the agency, voters split 46% in favor and 48% against—though Republicans oppose abolition by a decisive 66% to 31%.

Support for cutting federal funding from sanctuary cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis also remains strong: 48% of voters back ending such city-level defiance of immigration enforcement. Trump 2024 voters support defunding sanctuary cities by a commanding 75% to 17%, while Harris 2024 voters oppose it at 70% to 20%.

A majority (51%) oppose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s efforts to create an open-borders sanctuary state, and 58% of Americans support using military force to disrupt fentanyl trafficking from Venezuela—a stance backed by Hispanics, independents, and moderates.

Voters consistently favor decisive action against illegal immigration, whether through deportation policies, federal enforcement mechanisms, or opposition to sanctuary initiatives. The data underscores a clear preference for outcomes over contested methods, with Trump’s base demonstrating unshakable support for border security measures.
