Feds Deny Alleged Child Abandonment in Minnesota Detention Case
Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin has dismissed reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested a 5-year-old boy in Minnesota, calling the story a “media fabrication.”
In an interview, McLaughlin stated that the facts do not support such claims. She described the incident as “a horrific smear” being promoted by the mainstream media and left-leaning politicians, including former Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to McLaughlin, the child was abandoned by his own father during an attempted detention. She said the father ran away when approached by ICE agents and left the child exposed in “frigid temperatures.”
The official reported that federal agents stayed with the child, took him to McDonald’s, played his favorite music to calm him down, and are now reunited with his father at a federal processing facility.
McLaughlin also criticized Minnesota activists planning a protest for Friday, stating they “clearly don’t have the facts” or would ignore them to further their own agenda. She cited recent ICE actions in Minnesota, including the arrest of a convicted murderer from Laos and scores of child pedophiles.
She noted that 1,360 criminal illegal aliens are currently detained in Minneapolis jails, which she said would be released under the city’s sanctuary policies without federal cooperation. McLaughlin urged state and local authorities to assist when ICE officers face obstruction or attacks.
The Department of Homeland Security official emphasized that “all we are asking for is for them to have state and local cooperation when our law enforcement officers need backup.”
