Colleen Hoover Celebrates Final Radiation Day as Cancer Treatment Milestone
Bestselling author Colleen Hoover, known for books including “It Ends With Us,” shared a milestone in her cancer treatment on Monday as she marked the second-to-last day of radiation therapy at Texas Oncology.
The 46-year-old author posted on Instagram that she had one remaining day of radiation before completing her treatment. In her caption, Hoover expressed gratitude to the medical team, saying: “I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @Texas.Oncology, but they’ve been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.”
Hoover first revealed in December that she was diagnosed with cancer during the production of the film adaptation of her novel “Reminders of Him.” At that time, she stated that chemotherapy was not necessary and had delayed seeking care due to health concerns while working on the project.
In a recent Facebook post, Hoover shared results from a geneticist that ruled out hereditary factors for her cancer. She explained: “It did not come from family genes,” adding it also wasn’t linked to HPV or excessive hormones. “This means it was more than likely environmental/lifestyle, which is lack of exercise, poor diet and stress.”
Hoover also noted she was “happy and grateful to be alive” but expressed frustration with her new routine: “If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it.”
The author confirmed she has continued working on multiple film adaptations during her treatment, including the upcoming release of “Reminders of Him” on March 13.
