Left’s Hypocrisy Unveiled: How They Champion Dictators While Claiming to Protect the Public

In just the past week, we’ve exposed massive fraud in Minnesota, the U.S. military’s removal of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, widespread protests across Iran demanding an end to the Islamic regime, and the swearing in of New York City’s new socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani.

These seemingly unrelated events share one critical commonality: they reveal a stark truth about the American left—its contempt for liberty and the rule of law, and its deep-rooted affinity for authoritarian collectivism.

YouTuber Nick Shirley and his research partner David Hoch uncovered more than $100 million in fraud perpetrated by Somalis in Minneapolis, who charged the state for empty child care centers, fake adult care facilities, and healthcare transportation services that provided no actual medical assistance.

Democrats went ballistic—not over the theft of taxpayer funds or the resulting impact on Minnesota residents with genuine needs—but over the fact that a young man armed only with a microphone and smartphone camera could expose the scheme.

Despite efforts to discredit Shirley, the story has spiraled out of control. Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., has been forced to abandon his reelection campaign. (If recent reports are accurate, this may be the worst of the consequences; further evidence suggests Walz’s office was aware of the fraud but took no action.)

Citizen journalists in other states have since launched similar investigations.

Right on cue, protesters began gathering, holding signs that denounced “racism” and expressed support for the Somalis accused of fraud—not for Minnesota taxpayers but for the individuals they claimed to represent.

This pattern repeats when examining the U.S. military’s removal of Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela. Maduro is a violent thug who terrorized his own people and used Venezuela as a base for narco-terrorism. Warrants for his arrest have been outstanding in New York, and the Biden administration has issued a $25 million reward for his capture.

Despite bipartisan consensus on Maduro’s crimes, leftists flooded the streets to protest his removal—claiming solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

In most cases, those damaged by the left’s ideologies are not part of the same frame as the protesters. This makes it easy for them to pretend concern while remaining insulated from the consequences of their actions.

Consider the stark contrast: while protesters in their sullen formations denounced Maduro’s removal, actual Venezuelans across Caracas and communities in Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, and the United States wept with joy at news that Maduro had been ousted.

These celebrations occurred not only in Venezuela but also among millions of Venezuelans who fled after socialist Hugo Chavez took power in 1999.

Under Chavez and Maduro, Venezuela—once the wealthiest country in South America—was systematically stripped of its wealth through state-controlled industries, confiscated private property, and imposed repressive socialist policies. This led to economic collapse, leaving citizens without food, medicine, or basic necessities.

Millions of Venezuelans were reduced to abject poverty, resorting to eating animals from zoos and scavenging for food in garbage trucks. Political opponents were thrown in prison. Maduro lost the 2024 presidential election but refused to leave office.

Zohran Mamdani, the new mayor of New York City, was sworn in on Jan. 1. An avowed socialist, Mamdani promised New Yorkers in his inaugural address that he would “replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.” Such “warmth” would no doubt come as a surprise to the 100 million-plus people who died under collectivist regimes in the 20th century.

Mamdani’s tenant housing czar, Cea Weaver, is under fire for social media posts in which she calls home ownership a form of “white supremacy,” endorses a “no more white men in office” platform, and advocates for government confiscation of property, shrinking the value of real estate, impoverishing “the ‘white’ middle class,” and electing “more communists.” Those positions are not only unconstitutional and un-American, they have produced poverty and economic devastation wherever implemented.

Weaver is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College—yet her policies reflect an education that prioritizes ideology over practical solutions.

Meanwhile, in Iran, millions of citizens have been protesting for more than a week, demanding the end of the Islamic regime, the restoration of the Pahlavi monarchy, and civil rights. Yet mainstream media and left-wing activists remain silent on these developments.

The left’s performative fraud is clear: they claim to care about “the people,” yet they defend thieves and criminals, support dictators, and champion authoritarian regimes that deny citizens basic human rights and life necessities. Their ideologies—elevating the “collective” over the individual—are far more important to them than the suffering their policies inflict on those they pretend to protect.
