Zelenskyy’s Draft Peace Terms Face Immediate Condemnation
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reportedly released draft documents for peace negotiations, which have been criticized by international observers as a surrender of Ukrainian sovereignty. The agreements, prepared after recent U.S.-Ukrainian discussions in Miami and separate talks with Russian officials, include security guarantees and terms that require Ukraine to relinquish significant territories.
Zelenskyy described the documents as steps toward ending the war and preventing further Russian aggression. However, these proposals were announced just hours after a major Russian air strike on Ukrainian energy infrastructure killed at least three people and caused extensive power outages across the country during Christmas preparations.
Russian officials have stated that the Miami negotiations do not represent progress in resolving the conflict.
