House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., urged conservatives to prioritize the 2026 midterm elections during a recent address at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix. Johnson warned that a Democratic takeover of the House would initiate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump and create “absolute chaos.”

“The contest is on the line,” Johnson emphasized. “If we lose the House majority, the radical left will impeach President Trump—and they’ll bring about disorder we cannot allow.”

The Republican majority in the House currently stands at 220 seats to Democrats’ 213—with two vacancies—making the chamber’s control precarious. Johnson highlighted that a loss would enable Democrats to launch investigations and push for impeachment, a scenario he described as a direct threat to stability.

Johnson’s remarks underscored ongoing concerns about the House’s focus on impeachment politics. Trump was impeached twice during his first term, and Johnson has previously characterized Democratic efforts to revive impeachment as “shams.”

Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, which concluded Sunday at Phoenix’s Convention Center, served as a key venue for conservative strategists to prepare for the 2026 elections. Johnson stressed that Republicans must maintain control of the House to avoid what he called “confrontation and chaos” in Washington.
