Florida Republican Representative Randy Fine announced on Sunday that he is actively working to have House member Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., expelled from the United States following President Donald Trump’s recent demand.

“I don’t think Ilhan Omar should be expelled from Congress,” Fine stated. “I think she should be expelled from the United States, and that’s something that I’m working on.”

Fine linked his criticism to allegations of fraud in Minnesota state programs, which Trump claimed involved up to $9 billion in federal aid program misconduct. Trump also accused Omar of spreading misinformation about law enforcement and her son.

The Florida representative criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for asserting there is no evidence of the reported fraud despite audits and allegations that widespread fraud has occurred across multiple initiatives.

“That’s a bunch of garbage,” Fine said. “I mean, he’s been governor for almost eight years. This happened under his watch. They knew exactly what was going on.”

Fine added that if the Minnesota scandal reflects broader patterns, similar issues could be uncovered in other Democratic-led states. He also revealed plans to introduce legislation restricting public benefits to U.S. citizens only.

“That’s why I filed a bill to end all welfare to all noncitizens, both legal and illegal,” Fine explained.

Fine emphasized his efforts would focus on formal congressional action rather than political messaging, stating Omar “will deal with it on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.”
