Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Calmes Hails Trump’s Diplomatic Efforts on Ukraine Peace Deal
In a recent interview, Finland’s Foreign Minister, Elina Valtonen, has voiced strong support for the peace initiative spearheaded by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Valtonen emphasized that any proposed settlement must be evaluated and accepted by Ukraine itself, as it concerns an existential issue for the nation.
During her appearance on “Wake Up America,” Valtonen stated, “Well, to my understanding, the peace plan is quite comprehensive. So naturally, it takes time not just to read but also to assess its implications thoroughly.”
She praised Trump’s leadership in brokering peace talks and noted that his involvement has injected new momentum into diplomatic efforts.
“I think it’s been extremely fruitful,” Valtonen said regarding President Trump’s initiative. “And President Trump brought this energy right from the start earlier this year, which was greatly appreciated.”
Valtonen stressed that while she believes U.S. engagement is crucial to resolving the conflict, the ultimate decision-making power rests with Ukraine.
“Obviously, it’s not his war,” Valtonen explained, adding that the peace process requires a durable solution rather than merely a pause in hostilities or temporary truce.
The ongoing discussions surrounding this draft agreement are currently at an advanced stage as European nations and their partners coordinate policies.
