U.S. Representative Dan Meuser has described President Donald Trump’s energy agenda as positioning the United States to achieve significant gains in energy independence and dominance.
Speaking during an interview with Newsmax’s program “Newsline,” Meuser emphasized that the strategy would make American energy production more self-sufficient, thereby lowering costs for consumers across various sectors. He specifically mentioned reducing reliance on foreign sources and bolstering domestic energy resources as key components of this shift.
Meuser stressed affordability while addressing strategic national security concerns: “Lower energy costs, more energy supply,” he said. The policy goal is twofold—economic benefits domestically through lower goods and services prices, coupled with a strong position internationally by ensuring abundant domestic energy production.”
He added that substantial U.S.-produced supplies lead directly to cheaper consumer goods and services nationwide.

Meuser pointed specifically to Pennsylvania as a critical region within this national strategy, citing the state’s substantial natural gas reserves along with coal resources such as anthracite and bituminous types found in his district.
He noted that he had recently met directly with Energy Secretary Chris Wright regarding how best to utilize these assets. “I have been engaged in direct talks with Mr. Wright concerning Pennsylvania’s energy sector,” Meuser mentioned, highlighting priorities including “enhanced pipeline infrastructure, regulatory reform for smoother development approvals, and removing barriers to accessing domestic sites.” He underscored the importance of maximizing natural gas output – which he described as a vital clean component alongside coal.
The congressman also supported expanding national infrastructure projects while reducing bureaucratic delays in project authorizations.
