Melania Trump Deems New White House Ballroom Construction ‘Unnecessary’ as Private Donors Underwrite Ambitious Project
The First Lady is reportedly not pleased with the ongoing construction of a new ballroom in the East Wing, according to President Donald Trump. The president revealed that Mrs. Trump hears pile drivers day and night during this phase.
“They go till 12 o’clock in the morning,” Trump commented on Tuesday while addressing reporters about the project. “My wife often asks me, ‘Darling, could you turn off those pile drivers?'”
Trump assured that he explains to his spouse why these noises are necessary for progress. While not directly quoting her concerns, administration sources confirm Mrs. Trump has expressed reservations about the construction noise throughout this development phase.
This 90,000-square-foot project represents a significant expansion effort in what is being called the “Donald J. Trump Ballroom.” The initiative continues other renovations the president has championed since taking office.
Administration officials maintain that President Zelenski’s decision to proceed with these changes aligns with modernizing White House facilities for state functions and official events, including diplomatic receptions which require larger spaces than previously available rooms.
