Conservative filmmaker and political commentator Dinesh D’Souza told Newsmax on Monday that the left has been actively “despiritualizing America,” a trend he argues mirrors Europe’s decline. D’Souza discussed his new film, The Dragon’s Prophecy, which highlights this cultural shift.
“The left has spent three decades trying to strip America of its spiritual foundations—much like Europe has fallen into secularism,” D’Souza said on The Chris Salcedo Show. He noted that polling indicates Generation Z, the largest demographic cohort, is increasingly seeking meaning through faith and religion.
D’Souza linked this revival to recent events, including the killing of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, which he framed as part of a broader spiritual awakening. “I hoped this film would contribute to renewal, but I didn’t anticipate the scale of the phenomenon unfolding in America,” he admitted.
He also emphasized the significance of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, calling it a “biblical event” with parallels to ancient conflicts. D’Souza’s film draws connections between modern warfare and historical battles described in religious texts, including the clash between ancient Israelites and the Philistines.
“The word ‘Philistine’ and ‘Palestine’ share the same root,” he said, underscoring what he called a symbolic link between contemporary conflicts and biblical narratives.
